The DidyHip is a hip carrier designed with elements of a ring sling but simplified for ease of use. Unlike other carriers that can do many things, this on has just one job - getting a child up onto your hip quickly and off again just as quickly.
It goes on in seconds and comes off in seconds. The pouch is adjustable with drawstrings so you can tighten it specifically for your child. The pouch and shoulder section are symmetrical, which means it works on your left or your right without reversing anything or working out which way is up.
It weighs and packs down much less than a structured carrier, so it lives in a bag rather than taking up the bag.
This is for you if:
- You don't want to do any tying, threading or complex tightening. Bring your child up, tighten and off you go.
- You want something lightweight. Something that folds down small enough to shove into any bag.
- You plan to carry for short periods. This is not the one you want to reach for for a long hike. Think instead: daycare drop offs, neightbourhood strollls and shopping trip.
- Simplicity is important. Because sometimes parenthood is overwhelming enough.
- You want to share. Switch between carers in seconds.
- You like a softly padded shoulder. No bulky padding, just soft padding on either edge to allow it to mold over your shoulder.
- You're safety conscious. Complies with EU and ASTM safety standards. M-position support for healthy hip development.
- Softness and luxury fabric is needed. Converted from organic cotton woven wrap fabric.
You might prefer something else if:
- Your baby is less than five months and/or doesn't have secure head control yet. The DidyHip starts at around five months (5.5 kg) and requires babies to have secure head control. A ring sling would be a better fit if your baby is smaller than this or doesn't meet the milestone yet.
- You want front and back carries too. This one is for hip carries only. If you would like front and back carries you might prefer a full buckle, half buckle or woven wrap.
- You need all day comfort If you need something for longer carries, incuding naps, this one is not for you. One of our other carriers would suit you better.
- You want handsfree carrying. This carrier is mostly designed to be a carry assist (which means you need tok keep a hand on /around your child). To carry handsfree you will need to ensure that your child has adequate coverage on their back and underneath them. You will also need to be able to tighten the carrier well around your child. This will only be possible when your child is on the smaller end of the spectrum for this carrier. Once your child is too big for full coverage on their back, you will need to keep a hand on your child at all times.

Is the DidyFix suitable from birth?
No. The DidyHip is designed for use from around five months, once your baby has secure head control, and from 5.5 kg. Head control matters here because a hip carry sits baby off-centre, so they need to be able to hold their own head steadily.
Up to what age or weight can I use it?
To around 20 kg, which is roughly age three.
Can I do a front or back carry with it?
No. The DidyHip is a hip carrier only. If you want all three positions, look at the DidyFix or the LennyUpGrade PRO.
Can I wear it on either side?
Yes. The pouch and shoulder section are symmetrical, so it works on your left or right hip with no adjustment.
Is it hip-healthy?
Yes. The DidyFix supports a hip healthy M'-position. It seats baby with knees higher than bottom in a spread-squat position, the recommended position for healthy hip development. It is tested to EU and ASTM safety standards.
Can two carers share one carrier?
Yes. The pouch and shoulder adjustment mean you can reset the fit quickly between wearers.
Is the DidyHip good for summer?
Yes, it is super lightweight.
