Australia's only Try before you buy baby carrier service

Try a baby carrier before you buy it.

Choosing a carrier from photos is hard. So try one at home for two weeks and put it through your real life: the contact naps, the school run, the supermarket, the bush walks. If it fits, keep it. If not, send it back.

Why we built this

The right carrier is the one that works for you.

We don't know what is worse: five carriers from Marketplace that didn't work for you or a $300 carrier that lives in a cupboard. It is the worst kind of waste. Yet it is almost impossible to try a carrier on in Australia.

Try Before You Buy is our answer to that. Take any of our most loved carriers home, brand new, and live in it for two weeks. We post anywhere in Australia. If it is the one, your trial fee is deducted from the purchase price. If not, you send it back and your deposit comes home with you.

What you walk away with

Two weeks of real wear. Free support to get the most out of the carrier, the confidence to commit, or the freedom not to.

What it actually costs

$40 trial fee (credited to purchase) · $100 refundable deposit · postage to you (and back if you return it).

How it works

From cart to carry, in seven steps.

Each step takes a minute or two. The whole thing is designed so a tired parent can finish it one handed.

1

Browse the range

Open the trial collection and pick the carrier you want to live with for two weeks. Not sure yet? Reach out and let's brainstorm.

2

Choose your colour

Pick a fabric or pattern you would actually want to own. Trying something you love the look of means you'll reach for it more.

3

Add the deposit

A pop up prompts you to add the $100 refundable deposit. It comes back to you in full once the carrier is returned on time and in good shape.

4

Choose post or pickup

We ship Australia wide with tracking, or you can collect from us in Mount Kuring-Gai, NSW. Return postage is on you. Arrange your own tracked post, use a label we send (we deduct $10 from your deposit), or return in person for free.

5

Pay and unbox

You are charged the trial fee, the deposit and outbound postage. Your carrier arrives brand new, with full warranty paperwork.

6

Wear it for two weeks

The clock starts the day it lands on your doorstep, not the day you order. Free fit checks and support any time during the trial (and beyond).

7

Return it, or keep it

Pop it back in the post by the end date with tracked post and your deposit refunds in full. Or email us before the end date and we will invoice you for the carrier minus the trial fee and deposit you have already paid. Most of our trials end this way.

If you keep it

Email us before the end date. We invoice you for the carrier minus your $40 trial fee and $100 deposit. You pay the difference and the carrier stays with you.

A worked example

A LennyHybrid at $280 RRP, kept after trial: $280 − $40 − $100 = $140 still owing.

If it is late or damaged

$5 a day past the end date, capped after 28 days at the carrier's RRP. Tell us if something has come up, we are reasonable.

You are not alone

A fit check is always free (of cost and judgement).

Two weeks goes quickly. If something feels off (like a sore back or a baby who keeps fussing) send a few photos or a short video. We will tell you whether it is a fit issue or just a hard day.

"
What a great service to be able to try a carrier before you buy it. Kiki was amazing help for the 2 weeks of the trial and after I decided to purchase as well, checking in to see if we needed any help with fit."

Things to know

The bits worth reading twice.

Tap any question. If something is not here, ask us. We add the questions we get often.

Is the carrier I receive brand new?+

Yes. Every trial carrier ships brand new, with its warranty card and instruction manual. If you decide to keep it, it is the one you have already worn in. If you send it back, take the same care you would with anything you plan to return.

How long is the trial?+

Two weeks, from the day your carrier actually arrives. Postage delays do not eat into your time. If life genuinely gets in the way, message us: we would rather extend a few days than have you rushed.

What does my baby need to be ready for?+

Check the weight and clothing size guidelines on the product page before booking. Newborn safe carriers usually start at 3.2-3.5 kg. Onbuhimos need a baby who can sit unaided. If you are unsure, send us a message and we will help you choose.

Do I have to pay for return postage?+

Yes. You pay to send it back. You can arrange your own tracked post, or we send you a postage label and deduct $10 from your deposit when it comes back. You can also return in person to Mount Kuring-Gai, NSW for free.

When does my deposit come back?+

Once we have the carrier back and have checked it over. Usually within 24 hours and always within a couple of business days. The deposit refunds in full if the carrier comes back in the condition it left in, with the warranty card and manual.

Can I try more than one carrier?+

Usually, no. We want you to give the carrier the time it deserves. If you are weighing up several carriers, a free meet is honestly the faster path: you can try four or five in an hour.

What if it does not work for us?+

First, we would love to troubleshoot with you — often it is a simple tweak to get things feeling good. But if it is not the one, you send it back, your deposit comes back, and the trial fee and return postage are what you have paid to find out. That is the whole point of the program.

Can I buy it after the trial?+

Email us by the end date. We invoice you for the carrier minus the $40 trial fee and your $100 deposit. Most of our trials end this way.

What about safety?+

Always follow the manufacturer's instructions and the T.I.C.K.S. babywearing safety rule: Tight, In view at all times, Close enough to kiss, Keep chin off the chest, Supported back. Cloth and Carry is not responsible for injuries caused by misuse. If a fit feels off, please reach out.

Ready when you are

Take one home,
see how it fits.

A carrier you have actually worn beats a carrier your friend told you to buy. Pick the one that catches your eye, wear it for two weeks, and let us know how it goes.
