What are the differences between baby carriers?
When it comes to baby carriers, they are all a little bit different. There are different ways they adjust (or some don't adjust), sizes of the panel (the part that sits over your baby), fabrics, firmness of padding, the list goes on.
We have just launched the DidyFix Baby Carrier by Didymos and I know many of you will be wondering what the difference is between the DidyFix and our best selling carriers like LennyLight and LennyUpGrade PRO.
Let me break it down for you:
How the DidyFix, LennyLight and LennyUpGrade PRO differ
First let me start by telling you what they all have in common:
- Well designed and adjustable providing a truly safe fit from newborn to toddler
- High quality woven wrap fabrics
- Made in small batches in Europe from small family owned businesses
Now let's get technical...
Panel size
This is one of the main differences between these carriers. The LennyLight and LennyUpGrade PRO both have very generous panel sizes, especially when it comes to the width of the panel.
| DidyFix | LennyLight | LennyUpGrade PRO | |
| Min Height | 26cm | 28cm | 26cm |
| Max Height | 40cm | 41cm | 41cm |
| Min Width | 18cm | 15cm | 15cm |
| Max Width | 40cm | 46cm | 46cm |
As you can see above, the height is very similar for all three carriers, but the width is where it differs. The LennyLamb can cinch in 3cm more and can open up 6cm more in the width.
What this means in real life is that your child will be able to maintain knee to knee support for their legs longer in the LennyLamb carriers (and little babies might take a little longer to fit into the DidyFix than the LennyLamb carriers).
But, this extra longevity does have an affect on how bulky the carrier feels. Having those 9 extra cm in the panel means there is more bulk in the carrier, which is important for some people.
Conclusion: If maximum longevity is important for you, the LennyLamb carriers would be a better choice. If having a carrier that is lightweight is more important to you, go with the DidyFix.

Adjustments
All three carriers have basically identical mechanisms to adjust the panel height and width. Velcro on the waistband for width, buckle and strap for the height.
They also all have two way adjusters to tighten the shoulder straps (so you can choose between pulling forward or pulling back to tighten) but the DidyFix has a floating buckle in the centre of the strap whereas LennyLamb has fixed buckles at the ends of the straps (if this makes no sense to you, forget I even mentioned this, it doesn't make a big difference).
When it comes to adjustments for the wearer, the DidyFix and LennyUpGrade PRO are actually very similar when it comes to their features. They both come with a Perfect Fit Adjuster (PFA) which allows you to customise the length of the shoulder strap padding. Whereas the LennyLight does not have this option.
Not having a PFA on the LennyLight means that for people who have more average to plus sized bodies, the shoulder strap padding might not be sufficiently long to feel ultimate comfort. It does mean one less adjuster to learn though, which simplifies things for people.
Conclusion: All three are very similar with the main difference being that the DidyFix and LennyUpGrade PRO have PFAs and LennyLight doesn't. Choose the LennyLight if you have a petite body or just want something super simple. Choose the DidyFix if you want something lightweight like the LennyLight but want more adjustability. Choose the LennyUpGrade PRO if you want maximum comfort and adjustability.
Weight
The DidyFix packs down smaller than any of the LennyLamb carriers. It feels incredibly light to hold. The LennyLight is a bit bigger but still really compact. The LennyUpGrade PRO has a taller waistband and generous panel (as discussed above) which makes it bigger when rolled up. How heavy the LennyLamb carriers feel is impacted significantly by which fabric you choose. A 160gsm weight fabric is going to feel very different to a 310gsm fabric.
Conclusion: From lightest to heaviest: DidyFix, LennyLight, LennyUpGrade PRO. But fabric choice makes a big difference.
Padding
The LennyLight and DidyFix have similar height of their waistband but the DidyFix waistband is much firmer than the LennyLight. LennyUpGrade PRO has a taller waistband which is slightly firmer than the LennyLight but still much softer than the DidyFix.
Conclusion: If a soft waistband is better for your body, go with the LennyLamb carriers. If you don't mind a firm waistband, DidyFix could be for you. If you have a short torso you might prefer the LennyLight or DidyFix. If you want max support, you can't go past the LennyUpGrade PRO.
